HOUSE: Geometry of Belonging (2025) is a sculptural meditation on shelter, identity, and the human need to belong.
A painted MDF panel holds 108 precision-cut cavities arranged in a 12 × 9 grid, each containing a 3D-printed and hand-painted house. Together, the houses form an ordered field—individual forms held within a shared structure.
Moving through a full spectrum of colour, each house remains distinct while belonging to a larger whole. The repetition evokes community, while subtle variations speak to the personal histories, cultures, and emotional worlds carried by each individual. The house becomes more than architecture: it is memory, protection, origin, and the possibility of beginning again.
The cavities establish a dialogue between presence and absence. They suggest that belonging is shaped not only by what is present, but also by what has been left behind, carried forward, or imagined from afar. Positioned between individualistic and collective understandings of home, the work asks whether identity can remain singular while becoming part of something shared.
HOUSE is ultimately an optimistic work. It recognizes displacement and difference without allowing them to become the final condition. Within its geometry, diversity does not dissolve into uniformity; it becomes the structure through which connection is possible.
